Liquid Fertliser or Solid?

Which is best, Liquid Fertiliser or Solid?

Solid Fertiliser such as Rock Dust, Sulfate of Potash (not necessarily Organic) and your Animal Manures are great for long term slow release fertilisers either dug in or applied to the top of  the ground (best practice is worked into the ground). They release their nutrients over a period of time normally keeping the plants topped up through the growing season.

Liquid Fertiliser generally more expensive than solid (per unit of Nutrient) but great for topping up your plants quickly if they need a boost.

The nutrient content is in a liquid form so immediately available to the plant, Fish, Seaweed are two good liquid brews along with Compost Leceate and Worm Castings.

Both have their place but generally the rule of thumb is solid first in conjunction with Compost and then Liquid to keep the plants going if they need a quick boost, liquid suits your pot plants best.

Liquid Fertiliser is great as a Leaf Spray to keep the plants Pest free and topped up with Nutrients.
