Green Mulch-Mustard

Mustard is a great Green Crop for "sick" soils, these are soils that have been cropped hard and or have had large amounts of Chemicals applied to them. Commercial growers use Mustard a lot in Onion and Potato fields where regular Chemical Fungicides are used that slowly destroy the natural soil microbes effectively killing the soil.
Mustard doesn't contribute much in the way of nutrients as in Lupins however the roots of the plant extract the "nasties" out of the soil and contribute useful amounts of Organic Matter back into the soil.
As with Lupins so the seed directly into garden and then work in when they have flowered.
