The Propane Weed Burner is for my money the best weed control solution after Mulch. In these photo's you will see a bad crop of Twitch which had grown into the Garden bed (sunflowers)from the Lawn on the other side of the fence. The Burner doesn't cost a lot of money ($100 in Australia) and are cheap to run with the cost of a canister between two and three dollars. You don't have to burn the weeds to a crisp, just torch them until the leaf starts to curl and a bit longer on the trunk.
The flame doesn't have to be flat out, just gentle heat will make the refill go a long way.
Thirty minutes later the weeds have gone black.
The next day they are burnt off completely, another benefit is the heat kills any seed that is about as well, so long term the benefits get better.
Word of caution don't get to close to your plants with it as the Burner doesn't discriminate between what you what to keep and what you want to get rid of!
